A budget planner app the whole household shares

Mayora is a free app to run the household budget for two, three or five people. Everyone sees the same month, at the same time, and knows how much is still safe to spend without having to ask.

How to run a household budget, in four steps

  1. Know what comes in

Salaries, the meal card and one-off income. You declare it once and it holds every month; a raise in March changes March onwards and leaves January as it was.

An income line: the salary, €2,400.An income line: the salary, €2,400.
The meal card, €150, as separate income. The meal card, €150, as separate income.
  2. Separate fixed bills from day-to-day spending

Rent, electricity, internet, the gym. A fixed bill stays reserved until it is paid, and only then counts as spent: its money never shows as available and is never counted twice. More in fixed bills and variable spending.

  3. Put limits where the money leaks

Groceries, leisure, transport. Each category can carry a monthly cap, and the bar shows what has gone and what is left, before the month ends rather than after.

    Category limits: groceries 263 of €350, transport 73 of €100, leisure 66 of €100.Category limits: groceries 263 of €350, transport 73 of €100, leisure 66 of €100.
  4. Look at the month, together

The Overview answers the only question that matters mid-month: how much can we still spend, and what is that per day. On building a budget nobody abandons in March: a budget that survives month two.

What changes when the budget is shared

  • Everyone logs their own spending and the others see it straight away, with nobody adding up numbers at the end of the month.
  • The meal card counts separately. It is money for food only, so it does not inflate what can be spent on everything else.
  • Your bank statement is read on your own phone. You import the PDF or the spreadsheet and confirm the movements; the file is never uploaded.
  • Free. No subscription and no in-app purchases.

If the question is how to split the bills between two people, it is all in splitting household expenses.
